I decided to speed things up a bit on this site. First, I started to get so much spam that the spam filter in my email server was crying for some time off then whatever went through the content filter and ended up in my inbox got filtered by another spam filter which was reading the rest of my emails and marked about 99.5% of them spam. Not bad, eh? Going through all this crap to filter out the 0.5% of all the messages hitting my accounts, just to read some real email.
The solution I came up with was to find a free webmail provider (like hotmail, yahoo! mail, gmail etc…) to filter out the crap for me. Here is what I did: I picked one of the above providers, created an account on it, then forwarded all my emails from the server straight to the free, web based email account which is now filtering my junk for me. To get around the account size limit issue I setup POP3 access to my web email account where my email client program is downloading my real, non-spam messages from. And ta-da! It’s working like a charm.
Because of this, my junk emails can only be accessed using my web email account where the header details are not available (plus some of the data gets changed or wiped out during the redirect) so I decided not to include the header information in my posts any more.
What I’m going to do from now on is to post more often, but I won’t post too much details. I will just post the subject and the content of the spam messages here, which then could help you webmasters and system administrators to build up a better, stronger content filter on your email servers.
